The lunar mansions of the moon

The Mansions of the Moon are the 28 divisions of the Zodiac that the Moon transits during its monthly cycle around the Earth. The origins of the Mansions of the Moon are lost in the mists of history. Academics have argued for their genesis in Babylonia, India and China, among others.

The Mansions of the Moon were first recorded and explained in the “Book of Instructions” by the medieval scientist Abu'l-Rayhan Muhammad Ibn Ahmad Al-Biruni who was born in 973 A.D. It was the “Picatrix,” however, an encyclopedic magical Arabic text, that has provided the most definitive expression of the meaning and use of the Mansions of the Moon. Picatrix is the name used today for a 400-page book of magic which most scholars assume was originally written in the middle of the 11th century. What these ancient texts detail are the approximately 12 degree 52 minute
boundaries of the Lunar Mansions
beginning with the First Mansion at 0 Aries. They continue by detailing what activities are auspicious or inauspicious
when the Moon is in that particular Mansion.

The Mansions are attributed to “all wise men of India.” 

The Moon travels through the Zodiac each month, reflecting and shaping the life enabling, healing currents as they are refracted by the stars. These currents descend to the Earth with greater or lesser force, depending on the Moon’s journey, alignment with the Earth, and the Mansion it happens to be transiting. If we have a clear vision of the energies of each of the Mansions, we can track the Moon’s monthly travel and know for certain which times are auspicious and which are inauspicious for bringing specific energies down into our crystals for our meditation practice or healing sessions.
Each of the Mansions is a period of just about a day - the Moon moves swiftly around the Zodiac completing the journey in about 29.5 days. So the timing of healing energies needs constant monitoring and careful attention.Effective crystal healing requires therapies be consistent with the flow and shapes of the celestial healing and life-giving energies. Mansions 10, 22, and 26 are the most auspicious for crystal healing.
